What do printing costs depend on?
Print costs depend on many parameters:
Number of copies (the more copies the less you pay per copy)
Number of pages
Book format size (the bigger the format, the more expensive the print)
The inside printing – color or black and white (color costs much more, but the price can be reduced if color pages are put together and the printing is part color part b/w)
Paper type (90 gr. paper, chromo paper etc. If the paper is not white, it adds to the price)
Cover type (hardcover is more expensive, goldfoil adds a lot).
Thus, printing 3000 copies of an 5*8″ book with pulp cover and black and white inside pages, would cost less than printing 200 copies with the same number of pages in larger format with color inside. The number of pages is in any case a mystery until we finish writing and paginating the book, including picture and index. Thus a price estimate before starting to work would be impossible and irresponsible.
